On a lighter note...

A combination of 60+ hours at work every week and not having internet access at home for a couple of those weeks while we moved into our new home has kept me from expounding upon all the excitement over the last few weeks. Not that I’m complaining. I’m glad for the hours at work and our home is a great blessing to my family. I’ve just needed to fume about all the happenings in the nation over the last few weeks and my poor wife has all but begged me to just stay up late and let it all out on the web rather than in her head. So to my wife, I’m sorry – blame it on…McCain/Obama! Since I have no better target in mind, they can serve in place of all the loosers who have managed to sink us into financial chaos with nothing but selfishness in their frenzied, guilt-riddled hearts.

Gooseknuckle Campaigning

So it's 2008. Can you tell?

What gives it away? The Olympics? Maybe not. I was thinking it might be all the bumper stickers showing up. They seem to show up every four years and usually have some catchy, meaningless phrase on them - followed by some intitial or nickname like "Bill '96" or "W'08" or my favorite, "BO'08" The last one is so pungent - it makes me smile through my scrunched nose. Can I just ask a question? Are we really so naive that we would think a bumper sticker might swing someone's vote one way or another? All it does is jack up the back of our cars. We end up spending $6.00 on Goo-be-gone and 2 hours trying to scrape off the goop once our guy loses anyway. Either that or we end up looking like the Clampets discovered disposable tatoos - then we get pulled over and the officer simply asks, "Sir, can you really see out the back window?"
"Oh yes officer. In fact I see you don't have one - here I have extras. I donated to every campaign! Take your pick sir."

I tell you it's an election year madhouse these days! Are you tired of it yet? Oh well if you are - it's only the begining of the madness. Good luck getting through it if you're already sick of it. As for the rest of us - it's been quite a nightma...uhh...adventure!

Strange thing about it all though - with all of the hulabaloo and news stories coming out of Europe these days you would think that the world was voting in our Presidential race. I guess I missed the memo, apparently Barack Obama is running for President of the World! It's funny how, for the last decade, you hear nothing but complaining from the rest of the world that America sticks its nose in all of their business. Enter Barack Obama and - no problem! Go ahead and stick your nose wherever you want to! In fact we love you so much we're going to endorse you! Never mind that this is an American race and an American tradition.

I must hand it to Barack though. Here is this candidate with no foreign policy experience, who puts his mouth in his foot whenever he talks about foreign policy (not unlike Bush in 2000), so what better way to go to the voters in November than to go toting this one week whirlwind tour of Europe and the middle East! Foreign policy experience? Check!

On the other hand, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a major candidate for President of the United States has ever stuck their finger in the faces of the American voters and trotted off to Europe in the middle of a campaign. Gutsy. Could be brilliant...or could be...merely the move of another Gooseknuckle!

Gooseknuckle Gas!

Today's rant stems from a story out of California where a near brawl went down outside of a Costco gas pump.

Apparently the lines are so long at Costco to save a few cents on gas that one "gentleman" could not wait to save his precious .20 cents per gallon. Needless to say, the man who was actual next in line was not too happy, so he told the "butter" to go to the back of the line.

Good for him! It drives me crazy when no one says anything to these conceded jerks (or should I say gooseknuckle)!

Turns out, the "line cutter" wasn't too thrilled at being put in his rightful place so he first pulled out his bird, and a few choice tweets, then went and got his tire iron and confronted the man who dared tell him he should wait in line with the rest of the crowd.

First of all, how in the world does anyone think they can get away with such stupidity without being pointed out on the 6 o'clock news? And secondly, is gas that precious to us all now that we're willing to throw out our humanity to save a lousy .20 cents?

Seriously though, what's with the gas prices?

I'll tell you what's with the gas prices. And sadly I have to say that Congress is getting it wrong again - it's not the oil companies screwing us over - it's Congress for the last 20 years screwing us over! 20 years of no drilling on our own continent and 20 years of selling ouselves to the Prnce of Saudi Arabia!

As I understand it, did you know that if we drilled for oil in Alaska, that we're talking about putting rigs in an area the size of an international airport? This, in the largest state in the nation and the least populated. Yet we won't even blink if we needed to build another airport in Rhode Island!

Let's not forget to mention that Congress has stopped us from drilling off of our own coastlines for the last 20 some years while China could drill less than a mile away in international waters! Hello! Something is wrong with this picture.

Drill already! And make it snappy! Before another gooseknuckle gets out his tire iron!
